Front Runner
We took advantage of the last day of free fares on the new Front Runner train last night. It was standing room only when we got on in Salt Lake. Luckily someone offered Sabrina and Harrison a seat so they didn't have to stand. We got off at the next stop in Woods Cross to meet my mom, Jod, and B. The train we wanted to ride to Ogden was pulling up right as B was parking and he had to run and hop the fence to get on before it left.
Things seemed to be running a little slow, but we eventually made it to Ogden. B even made a new friend, Steve, on the way up. We had planned to eat at the Union Grill which is close to the Ogden station. I think about every other family riding the train had the same idea because we had to wait half an hour to be seated. I thought the food was really good and would definitely eat there again.
We ended up missing the train we wanted to catch home by just a couple minutes and had to hang out in Ogden for an hour until the next train left at about 9:00pm. It was a long ride home. There were a bunch of "hooligans" as my mom said and kids running around being loud. All the noise and the bright lights made it hard for Harrsion to sleep, so he was crying most of the way home. We found out while on the train that there had been an explosion at an oil refinery in Woods Cross that was slowing things down.
It was a fun little adventure and something that we would for sure do again but maybe on a Saturday when it's less crowded.
