Baby Slings

This weekend there was a Baby Expo at the South towne expo center and so Josh and I though it would be fun to go and check it out. They had vendors that make and sell some really cute things. The first booth that we came to was a baby carrier/sling vendor. I had seen my friend Amber's and she seemed to like it and I'd always wanted to try Harrison in one to see if he liked it and if it was comfy. After a bit of whining on Harrison's part we finally got him in a sling. Once he got in it he about feel asleep. I really liked it! We saw a few more sling vendors and while we were walking around we remembered that Ikea has really cute fabric and thought that maybe I could get a pattern and make one. So after the expo we went down to Ikea and found some really cute floral fabric and a pretty orange solid fabric. I guessed that i would need 2 yard of each if i wanted to make it reversible like many of the slings at the expo. We went to Jo Ann's to find a pattern but they didn't have any in any pattern book... So we came home and got on line and found instructions! And this is what we ended up with.
Harrison loved it.. Well it took him a few minutes to settle into it but after he was in it he fell asleep and took a 2 hour nap in it! Holy smokes! I Love my new Sling! Best of all it was so super simple to make and i have high hopes that it will make going to work with the little guy a whole heck of a lot easier.

Getting around to Easter...

St. Patrick's Day, 1st day of Spring & Easter

Holy Smokes! How did all three fall in the same week. I just think that is criminal.
St. Patrick's is on of my favorite holidays, i've never figured out why but wearing green so you dont get pinched and turning all the food green you can think of, nothing could be more light hearted or frivelous.

For all you Easter Hunt goers, check out the Utah Family Magazine for lots of locations for free or very inexpensive hunts held tomorrow. They also have a website but it doesnt have quite as many listings as the magazine. http://www.utahdiscovery.com/uf/calendar.php?Date=2008-03-22&DayWeek=Saturdays

Have a Happy Easter!

A brave baby boy!

I do realize that vaccines are an important part of a healthy life, but how can a mom ever feel good about submitting her son to a torturous experience?
Today was Harrison's 2 month appointment and with it came 3 vaccines. While Harrison was getting his vaccines he cried like he does when he's completly exhausted.(I didnt take any pictures of his vaccine day so this almost relays the feeling) But 1 minute after the shots were administered he was completly at peace. As we were leaving the Dr.'s office he was smilling and being happy at me! I guess he's a quick healer. He's a very tough boy!

"Drawing" of Harrison

If you have never heard of Instructibles you are missing out. It's a site where people can post step by step instructions on how to do or make just about anything. Anyway, I found this cool instructible on how to make these cool images from pictures. Basically you trace the image (to do this I had to first make a light box...), then you can upload it to Vector Magic and have the drawing converted to a vector image. Once you do that, things get really fun and you can color it in. Anyway...this is my first attempt at one of my favorite pictures of Harrison (it's the picture on the left-hand side of our blog if you want to compare them).

2 Glorious Years!

Josh and Harrison just before we leave Harrison for the first time!

Josh and I just had our 2 year wedding anniversay. March 11th. We were babysitting so we couldnt go out that night but we went to dinner on Friday night. Going out to dinner for an anniversary wouldn't really be something to post about if it wern't for leaving our baby boy for the first time! Josh's Mom and Dad were excited to come over and watch him for us. As we were driving off to Mazza i was about to cry. I was abandoning my baby boy! How could i be doing this. But it had to be done and we had a great dinner together. I just love my sweet husband so much. We have had an amazing 2 years together! By the end of dinner I was planning our future date nights once a week and who we will get to babysit in the future. I guess I got over the abandonment woes quickly!

Babysitting!!!

I still dont know how or why I said "Yes" to my sister and the Loves. The first week of March Shawna and Ken went to San Francisco and we told them we could babysit. It really was not bad. She has the most comfie bed. Harrison did his longest stint... 7 1/2 hours! It hasn't been repeated since. It was only 3 days but it took alot out of us. Mostly Harrison and I. But he had fun with his cousins.
I have been babysitting for Jill Love who is on the SLC council for the last 6 1/2 years. She had some meetings in Washington D.C. and asked if Josh and I could watch her 3 kids for 4 days and 3 nights. These kids are great and they couldnt get enough Har-bear! But it was a whole lot of work. I am just so greatful for my 1 baby! It was good to get a glimpse of what life will be like in 6 years.

Harrison's Blessing - Part II

Harrison had his baby blessing on Sunday the 2nd surrounded by tons of family and friends. Our ward had a total of four blessings that day. There were three girls and our little boy (not a bad ratio for Harrison...). I think we may have set a record with the size of our circle. I was so nervous to give him a blessing because I had never done it before and because I didn't want to leave anything out. I think it turned out ok. There were a few interesting things that came up in the blessing that I can't take credit for.

Thanks to Shawna and Ken for letting us use their house for the lunch afterwards. It was so much fun show Harrison off to everyone he hasn't met yet.

It was a great day. Thanks to everyone who came and brought such good food and treats.
